Women’s Affairs Minister Monica Mutsvangwa’s Son Arrested for Illegal Forex Trade

Women’s Affairs Minister Monica Mutsvangwa’s son, Neville Mutsvangwa, has allegedly been arrested on charges of engaging in illegal forex trading. He was apprehended at his home in Mt Pleasant, Harare.

Arrested by Commercial Crimes Division

Reports suggest that Neville was nabbed by officers from the Commercial Crimes Division at Morris Depot. The details surrounding the investigation leading to his arrest remain undisclosed.

Opposition Politician’s Husband Convicted of Assault

Masarira husband sentenced

In a separate incident, the spouse of opposition politician Linda Masarira narrowly escaped imprisonment after being found guilty of assault. Bongani Mlotshwa, aged 29, vehemently denied the allegations but was convicted by an Epworth magistrate.

Assault on LEAD President

According to the National Prosecuting Authority’s statement released on Tuesday, the incident occurred on May 5, 2024. The prosecution successfully demonstrated that Mlotshwa had subjected Masarira to three punches on her face with clenched fists. The assault allegedly took place after Masarira discovered Mlotshwa sleeping in their daughter’s room.

Sentencing and Community Service

Mlotshwa received a 15-month prison sentence, with 5 months suspended for a period of five years, provided he avoids any similar offenses during that time. Additionally, the court handed him a further 10-month suspension on the condition that he completes 350 hours of community service.

Call for Non-Violence and Resolution

The National Prosecuting Authority took the opportunity to urge couples to refrain from resorting to violence and instead seek amicable resolutions or third-party mediation to address their disputes.
