An 86-year-old father from Borrowdale Brooke has been dragged to court by his own son for allegedly misappropriating US$250K from Lakeland Ventures, a company he once co-owned with his late ex-wife.
A Web of Intrigue & Misrepresentation and Fraudulent Transfer
Graham Garnet Metcalf, a former director of Lakeland Ventures (Pvt) Ltd, appeared in court this week. He faced charges of fraudulently transferring ownership of a property belonging to the company. In 1997, Lakeland Ventures (Pvt) Ltd, represented by Noreece, acquired Dandaro Village in Borrowdale, Harare, from Wenham Investments (Pvt) Ltd for US$1 million. However, in 2005, Metcalf allegedly misrepresented that he had bought Dandaro Village. He then fraudulently caused the property to be transferred to his name. Metcalf was later dismissed from Lakeland Ventures through a resolution at an annual general meeting on May 18, 2008.
