ZRP Warns “Fake” Motorcades After Madzibaba Owen Shuts Down Chitungwiza

After Madzibaba Owen Chikopokopo of Velvet Masowe rocked the streets of Chitungwiza with his fake motorcade, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has issued a press statement condemning the use of unauthorized motorcades.

No Special Treatment for Private Functions

In the press statement, the ZRP advised that it is against the law for anyone outside the presidium to use a motorcade. This law applies to all functions, including church gatherings, birthday parties, or any other private functions.

“In terms of the country’s laws, only the State Presidium will be provided with motorized escorts or state motorcades. In this regard, the public should take note that there is no law or provision which allows the Zimbabwe Republic Police to offer or provide motorized escorts for various requests such as weddings, church gatherings, birthday parties, or other private functions,” read the statement.

Whether with beacon lights or sounding any form of siren,” the statement read. “The law will take its course without fear or favor on the wrong side of the law.”
