Real Star Security Manager In Court For Stealing Over US11K
An assistant operations manager at Real Star Security Company appeared in court for allegedly stealing over US$11K. Stephen Charakupa, a 44-year-old, stands accused of deceiving an unsuspecting complainant and defrauding them of a substantial sum of money.
Deceptive Claims and Connivance
According to the State’s case, Charakupa conspired with his wife, Anymore Mauru, to orchestrate the fraudulent scheme. The alleged deception took place between November 2023 and January 2024, coinciding with a time when the security company was in the process of acquiring vehicles from South Africa. It was during this period that Charakupa offered his services to the company.

Misrepresentation and Misuse of Trust
Charakupa approached the company’s general manager, claiming that he could secure a Nissan NP300 at a lower price than what the company would pay. To reinforce his credibility, Charakupa falsely represented that his wife held the rank of Colonel in the Ministry of Defence, attached to ZIMRA Beitbridge.

Betrayal of Trust
Persuaded by Charakupa’s claims, the company entrusted him with US$10,250 in cash to facilitate the purchase of the motor vehicle. However, it is alleged that Charakupa and his wife misappropriated the funds for their personal use, betraying the trust placed in them.
Another Scheme Unveiled
In a separate count, Charakupa is accused of misleading the complainant by offering them the opportunity to purchase 21 hectares of farming land in Banket. He claimed to have connections within the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development, suggesting that his wife could assist in the acquisition process.
Failed Promises and Unveiling the Truth
The complainant handed over US$1,500 to Charakupa and his wife, expecting to receive an offer letter for the land in January. However, the letter never materialized within the agreed timeframe. Suspicious, the complainant approached the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development for clarification.
