Dr Nandipha Magudumana is a South African doctor, surgeon and entrepreneur who has been accused of helping her boyfriend Thabo Bester escape from a maximum security prison in May 2022. Bester, also known as the Facebook ra_pist, was serving a life sentence for mur_der and ra_pe when he allegedly faked his death by setting his cell on fire and leaving behind a charred body.

However, the saga took a bizarre twist when a TikTok account claiming to be Dr Nandipha surfaced online, showing videos and pictures of her living a lavish life in Dubai. The account suggested that the person who was arrested in Tanzania with Bester was not the real Dr Nandipha, but a clone. The account also claimed that the real Dr Nandipha was in Dubai and that her clone was in South Africa.

The TikTok account has since been deleted, but not before sparking speculation and confusion among social media users. Some wondered how Dr Nandipha could have cloned herself and why she would risk her reputation and career for a convicted criminal. Others questioned the authenticity of the account and whether it was part of a hoax or a publicity stunt.

The police have not commented on the allegations of cloning, but they have confirmed that they arrested Dr Nandipha and Bester in Tanzania in March 2023 after a tip-off from Interpol. They also said that they found evidence linking them to the prison break, including fake identity documents, passports and money.

Dr Nandipha’s father, Zolile Sekeleni, has also been implicated in the case. He was initially charged with murder for allegedly providing the body that was used to replace Bester’s in the cell, but the charge was later withdrawn. He now faces charges of defeating the ends of justice, aiding and abetting a prisoner to escape and fraud.

Dr Nandipha, Bester and their co-accused are expected to appear in court on 3 May 2023 for a bail application. They face charges of escaping from lawful custody, fraud, theft and defeating the ends of justice.

The case has raised questions about the security of prisons, the integrity of mortuaries and the ethics of cloning. It has also exposed the dark side of social media, where criminals can use fake profiles to lure victims or create false narratives.

The mystery behind Dr Nandipha’s alleged clone remains unsolved, but it has certainly captured the attention of many people who are eager to know the truth.
