SCANDAL ridden Grain Marketing Board (GMB) on Monday suspended two senior managers for alleged incompetence, Zim Morning Post can report.
The blitz claimed the scalp of corporate services executive Muriel Zemura and Information Technology executive Tendai Ganda.
Inside sources told Zim Morning Post that the official charge was that the two were neglecting to update the company website.
However, investigations made by this publication established that the two clashed with chief executive Rockie Mutenha who was appointed without board approval.
“They were suspended on Monday for alleged incompetence but the real reason is bad blood between Mutenha and the two executives,” revealed our source.
This publication established that the duo was close to fired operations director, Lawrence Jasi and company secretary Rodney Mzyece who did not see eye to eye with Mutenha.
Investigations revealed that the fired executives raised red flags over the appointment of the incumbent chief executive Mutenha.
Last year, the executives appeared before Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Agriculture and stated that Mutenha, was appointed without board approval.
The committee expressed concern over Mutenha’s irregular appointment after coming third during interviews, though he remains the GMB head to date.
GMB executives have been coming and going yet corruption and mismanagement have remained as permanent residents of the Grain Marketing Board.
The latest victims are paying for their association with Mutenha’s perceived foes.
Efforts to get a comment from GMB authorities were fruitless at the time of writing.
