Borrowdale cocaine dealer arrested with US$18,000 worth of ‘crack’

A 52-YEAR-OLD Borrowdale man was on Saturday denied bail when appeared before Harare Provincial Magistrate Vongai Muchuchiti-Guuriro for unlawful dealing in dangerous drugs.

Tafungiswa Kennedy Jasi, the chief executive officer at Pringle Technical Engineering and Pringle Haulage Company, was on April 30 was arrested by the detectives who had been informed of that he was dealing in crack cocaine.

Acting on a tip-off, detectives made surveillance in Borrowdale and spotted the accused person driving a red Ford Ranger entering his yard.

They are said to have stopped the accused and searched his car and found sachets of cocaine worth US$18 000 under the steering wheel.

The state claims that further searches were carried out in the accused person’s house which resulted in the discovery of more granules of crack cocaine, cutting utensils, cutting agent which were contained in a purple basin and a scale.

The items were allegedly found in one of Jasi’s bedrooms.

Accused was then arrested and taken to Central Intelligence Department, Drugs and Narcotis, Harare.

At the CID it is said that a field test was conducted in the presence of the accused and it tested positive for cocaine.

The seized cocaine was reportedly weighed in the presence of Jasi and it weighed 221 grammes while the cutting agent weighed 3.5 kilograms.

The cocaine was sent to Forensic Science Laboratory for forensic examination.

The accused was remanded to May 19.
