ZIMBABWEANS living and working in South Africa have resolved to send groceries in the form of cooking oil, sugar, rice and washing powder to their families battling inflation at home.
With a bleak Christmas beckoning, Zimbabweans living and working in South Africa are engaging various logistics companies to ferry the basic goods to their families, mindful of the high cost of living in the country.
Among the businesses recording brisk business due to the skewed situation obtaining in the country is Malaicha.com.
Operations manager Shah Sarwar told Zim Morning Post that the business which is only eight months old has grown faster than they had envisioned.
“Malaicha.com has brought a unique idea of sending goods from South Africa to Zimbabwe using a convenience way that makes sure that the receiver will receive their goods,” said Shah Sarwar.
“With the current situation, we saw that not all Zimbabweans can afford to come back home with groceries but they can send their groceries through us. A lot of people who are in South Africa have been losing their groceries which they would have sent to their families and we have come in to fill that void,” said Sarwar.
Mr Sarwar told Zim Morning Post that they are experiencing long queues occasioned by the festive season.
“We have employed more people so that they can assist the company to cope with the long queues and we are promising to open a new branch soon to service more people,” said Sarwar.
“We want to make sure that we are going to clear all the queues so that people will enjoy the holidays with all their groceries,” he added.
Zimbabweans living and working in South Africa continue to contribute to the livelihoods of their families back home.
