Acting president Mohadi wife assault: Police blamed for stalling investigations

SENATOR Tambudzani Bhudagi-Mohadi has this week filed a complaint against police for its failure to institute investigations over an assault report she made after an alleged attack by her estranged husband, Vice President Kembo Mohadi.

The Senator made a statement to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Beitbridge Urban, on April 7, 2019 following an alleged assault on her by estranged husband Mohadi on March 30, 2019 at her Beitbridge residence.

Vice President Mohadi reportedly stormed the Senator’s Beitbridge homestead and took away three vehicles on that date, with 25 local police officers allegedly witnessing the incident.

Bhugadi-Mohadi related the hell she went through in efforts to report the matter to Beitbridge Ubarn police as she had allegedly been left with no vehicle to use.

She claimed not have received any updates on the matter since then.

The Senator advises that she has faced serious challenges in reporting the matter and obtaining the status of the police investigations. Since April 2019, the Senator has requested for updates on the police investigations to no avail,” Senator Bhugadi-Mohadi’s representatives wrote.

Her lawyers are seeking verification from the police on whether a docket was opened with regards to the complaint made.

“As the responsible authority, we seek confirmation on whether any appropriate criminal investigations into the Vice President’s behaviour have been conducted and whether any appropriate criminal charges have been or will be levelled against him,” lawyers representing the Beitbridge Senator said.
