- Two blocks to be rebuilt at Charleswood
- FBC Bank to partner with ZNA
THE Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) is set to rebuild classroom blocks of Charleswood Primary School in Chimanimani which were destroyed by Cyclone Idai.
The reconstruction programme is part of plans to resuscitate education in that part of the country.
The ravaged blocks would be rebuilt in partnership with the FBC Bank.
In a Press release, ZNA spokesperson Alphios Makotore said FBC Bank would provide building materials while the army would provide labour and technical expertise.
“The ZNA has already deployed its engineer artisans on site, while FBC Holdings has chipped in with more than 75 tonnes of cement and building materials worth more than ZW$600 000 towards the cause,” Makotore said.
Preparations of the rebuilding of the two blocks at Charleswood are now at an advanced stage, with the construction itself about to commence.
Manicaland and some parts of Masvingo provinces were hit by Cyclone Idai in 2019, killing hundreds of people and leaving thousands others homeless, while property worth millions of dollars was destroyed.
Cyclone Idai also destroyed schools, hospitals and government buildings in the provinces affected, with many of these currently not repaired.
Some of the victims of the disaster are still living in temporary shelters in various camps around Manicaland province, Zim Morning Post can confirm.
