HARARE — T Ten Global Sports on Tuesday dismissed reports of an investigation into suspicious activities during the 2024 Zim Afro T10 League, calling the claims “unfounded and malicious.”
The sports organization was responding to allegations that certain overs bowled during a match between the Durban Wolves and Harare Bolts raised concerns of possible match-fixing.
“T Ten Global Sports has strongly denied recent claims made by a segment of the media, which alleged an ongoing investigation into suspicious activities in the Zim Afro T10 tournament,” Omar Khan, media manager and spokesperson for T Ten Global Sports, said. “There is no known formal investigation in progress…The newspaper cast aspersions without any proof and based the story merely on assumptions and speculation.”
Khan’s comments follow claims that bowlers, including the UAE’s Kashif Dawood and Afghanistan’s Dawlat Zadran, bowled an unusual number of wides and no-balls.
Further reports claimed that a team owner left Zimbabwe unexpectedly before meeting with officials, and a player’s phone was confiscated by the ICC ACU as part of the investigation. Pakistani journalist Saleem Khaliq claimed that some Pakistani players and officials had been questioned.
T Ten Global Sports and Zimbabwe Cricket both denied the allegations. They argued that the reports harm the reputation of the tournament and undermine the integrity of the sport.
“We outsource all anti-corruption monitoring to the ICC ACU and work closely with them to maintain the highest standards of integrity,” Khan said. “We have a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of wrongdoing.”
The 2024 Zim Afro T10 League, held from Sept. 21 to 29 in Harare, ended with the Joburg Bangla Tigers crowned champions.
