HARARE – A host of thought leaders across the sports and tourism industry are set to converge in Bulawayo to discuss strategies to promote economic recovery and growth through the use of sport tourism.
Africa Sports Legacy will deliver a series of masterclasses at Sanganai/Hlanganani – World Tourism Expo that takes place at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo from 13 – 15 October 2022.
The annual Tourism Trade Fair organised by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority will be the first in-person meeting since Covid-19 was declared a pandemic on 11 March 2020.
The Africa Sports Legacy Conference aims to unpack the Business of Sports Tourism for the socio-economic development of Zimbabwe.
The conference will explore innovative sports tourism blueprints and will also examine actionable Sports Tourism strategies for local destinations. There will also be sessions to discuss brand, engagement, and commercial rights for sports tourism events.
Africa Sports Legacy, encouraged tourism players and members of the public to attend the conference. Registration is currently open on the Expo’s website, https://www.africasportslegacy.com/sangani-conference.
There will also be deliberations on how the public and private sectors can work together to produce sports tourism interventions.
The masterclasses will be spearheaded by blue Thunder Rugby co-founder Jason Maritz, world athletics elite coach Stan Madiri, strategy leader Naledi Khabo and strategy consultant Winnie Tubey.
