PROMINENT preacher and philanthropist Uebert Angel has continued rolling out the US$1 million ‘kitty’ set aside to fight COVID-19 pandemic in four Southern African countries including Zimbabwe.
The latest stop was his home province of Masvingo in Zaka on Tuesday where his team, led by Pastor Felix, dished out truckloads of 5ll meal- a commodity which has 5 6 and out of reach for many citizens.
This becomes his 19th outing since the advent of the national lockdown.
Angel is among the few rich and famous men of the cloth to intervene in this global health crisis.

Information obtained from personnel from Angel’s communication department reveal that the roll out is being done under the arms of Uebert Angel Foundation.
“The donation is coming through the foundation, which is the charity wing of our structures. We have identified areas of need and this is our 19th destination since the lockdown started.
“We have been travelling across all provinces and we do not choose areas on basis of political affiliation or denomination, our aim is to cushion citizens in this crisis,” said the official.
The first phase of the roll out has seen the foundation donating food hampers, gloves, face masks and hand sanitizers to different groups and less privileged families in Harare residential areas before moving to Norton where member of parliament Temba Mliswa presided over the hand-over.
Last week, the team gave out food hampers in Mbare and Glen Norah at the invitation of Harare mayor Hebert Gomba who also hails from Glen Norah.
“So far, we are on course, the budget is being spread over a few months in an effort to mitigate the effects of COVID-19,” the official added.
“We have deliberately committed the bigger chunk of the budget because the foundation ‘s founder is a Zimbabwean native. However, let me put it clear that we will cater for all the identified countries in the region.”
“We have had challenges in some regions due to bureaucratic systems and we happy that in Zimbabwe President Mnangagwa said everyone wiling to complement government efforts in the COVID-19 is welcome with his big or small contribution,” he added.
The official also urged citizens to follow preventive guidelines set aside by government and the World Health Organisation(WHO).
“This pandemic is real and the prophet (Angel) has been praying for the nation and world and he said humanity must have faith and also follow government and WHO guidelines. He emphasized on the sad loss of human life and it’s detrimental social and economic effects,” he said.
The Eubert Angel Foundation since January embarked in several philanthropic works in the region, which saw the payment of school fees for all students at a Zimbabwean school.
Meanwhile, the country has more than 300 confirmed cases, fifty-four recoveries and four deaths.
