Contact Centres are new business drivers, says minister Kazembe

GOVERNMENT has urged the private sector to utilise existing call centers in doing business with indications that they are a driver of economic growth.

Addressing delegates at the inaugural launch of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) in Harare this Wednesday, Minister of Information Communication Technology and Courier Services Kazembe Kazembe said the initiative will contribute to economic growth and employment creation.

“This initiative will go a long way and it is key in transforming the Zimbabwean Economy,” Kazembe said

“The Business Process Outsourcing has an immense potential to contribute in the Economic growth and employment creation to many Zimbabwean youth,” Kazembe added.

The Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) was organised by Contact Association of Zimbabwe (CAZ) in partnership with Omni contact and it is aimed at handling business call center solutions along with other business needs  

Omni Contact Chief Executive, Otis Makahamadze reiterated the need for government and other interested parties to take advantage of the opportunity for job creation.

“Government and other players should engage in this BPO initiative as an opportunity for the betterment of the economy and job creation”. Makahamadze said.

“Government needs to grab the momentum that is already there.” Further the BPO expert Rinos Mautsa said he expected government to play a pivotal role in driving this initiative so as to attract investors.

“Government should play a critical role in driving this initiative for the purpose of attracting more investors,’ ’ Mautsa said.
