HARARE – Business magnate Wicknell Chivayo has lauded Scotland FC for their triumphant rise to the Premier Soccer League (PSL), celebrating their coveted spot among Zimbabwe’s top football clubs. In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Chivayo expressed his excitement and reiterated his substantial financial and material support for the club.
“WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS,” Chivayo posted. “Following my pledge to support SCOTLAND FC, I am thrilled to congratulate the team and Hon. SCOTT SAKUPWANYA on their incredible win against MWOS, securing a place in the PREMIER SOCCER LEAGUE.”
True to his word, Chivayo revealed that he has delivered 20 Toyota Aqua vehicles to the club as a reward for their dedication and a morale booster for the upcoming PSL season.
“I will gladly go ahead and honour the USD 1 MILLION pledge I made to the club as a token in recognition of their relentless dedication and commitment that saw them rise to the top of the Northern Region Soccer League table,” Chivayo stated. He commended the team’s journey from humble beginnings in Mabvuku to becoming a force to be reckoned with on the national stage.
Scotland FC’s impressive season has not only earned the admiration of fans but has exceeded Chivayo’s expectations. As a result, he announced an additional pledge of USD 600,000 to aid their PSL campaign.
“I do hope that this SMALL gesture will aid the team’s preparations for the upcoming season by supporting player signings and enhancing their conditions of service,” Chivayo noted. “I personally believe that with the right resources and motivation, SCOTLAND FC is set to make history as the first PSL CHAMPIONS in their debut season… WATCH THE SPACE!”
The philanthropist further commended Scotland FC Chairman Scott Sakupwanya for his visionary leadership and commitment to empowering young talent in Mabvuku. “With the little I have, I reaffirm my commitment to supporting this remarkable team as they continue to rise, as part of my ongoing PHILANTHROPIC mission to elevate local talent through contributions that make a real difference to the community,” Chivayo added.
Chivayo’s gesture is expected to bolster Scotland FC’s preparations as they look to make a strong impression in their first PSL season.
