CCC Deputy Spokesperson Ostallos’s Controversial Tweet on Former Studio 263 Actor’s New Ministerial Role Sparks Massive Criticism

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) deputy spokesperson, Ostallos’s controversial tweet on former Studio 263 (Tendai), actor’s new ICT ministerial role sparks massive criticism online.

Ostallos’s Controversial Tweet

Fadzai Mahere requested the public release of Tatenda Mavetera’s CV, the newly appointed ICT minister. In response, Gift Ostallos Siziba shared a picture of a woman’s legs, implying that Mavetera secured her ministerial position through intimate relationships with ZANU PF leaders.

Apology and Withdrawal of Comment

Realizing the inappropriateness of his comment, Ostallos swiftly issued an apology, stating his regret and withdrawing his earlier statement.  “I apologize and withdraw my inappropriate comment. The focus shall remain holding the Executive to account in line with the Constitution, best practice & sound governance. Asbonge,” stated Ostallos.

President of LEAD, Linda Tsungirirai Masarira, another opposition urged Ostallos to refrain from hate and sexism.

Selective Support and Defenses

Defenders of Ostallos emerged, accusing feminists of being hypocrites with their selective support toward women. They pointed out instances where feminists remained silent during the abductions and torture of CCC members, including Cecilia Chimbiri, Joana Mamombe, and Netsai Marova. Similarly, the assault of Samantha Kureya, a prominent actor known as Gonyeti, and the murder of CCC member Moreblessing Ali were cited as examples where feminist voices were absent.

Reaction From Netizens

@ali_naka:

Fadzayi asking to see someone’s CV is part of her mandate of holding Executive to Account! All those crying and trying to gaslight Fadzayi and
@Cde_Ostallos
are attending a wrong funeral.

@lilomatic:

This here is very disappointing…
@Cde_Ostallos
you are better than this! Tone down on the hate and sexism.

@JonasiPhiri:

The pseudo-feminist who never said anything about the murder of Moreblessing Ali by Zanu PF thugs, but jump at th slightest opportunity possible to defend Clitocurrency appointments

@MakariosGl:

@JoanaMamombe
was abducted you never said a word? Who are you?

@MakwatiCharles:

What about the Hate shown to every Citizen by Zanu? The stealing?? The destruction? I have never seen you talking against the abduction or torturing of the Citizens…..here you are talking about hate n sexism….. its just a tweet wat about those 3 ladies of CCC who were totured

@kudzanaichacha1:

Sometimes tinonyara choowadi just because it seems to be misogyny

@incognito_tony:

Sexism is so inherent in many of us that I doubt that’ll be corrected. No popular political party has shown a shred of seriousness in being tough on sexism & misogyny. Too bad the nation is so hungry for freedom that the fights for equality are eclipsed in the name of change.
