Businessman donates bus to E.D – UNZA Scholarship Trust

Businessman Farai Matsika has donated a 40 seater luxurious bus to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s E.D – UNZA Scholarship Trust to support the President’s drive to assist underprivileged children access education.
The donation was made on Friday by Matsika’s group of companies namely Doves Holdings, Faramatsi Motors and Instant Tar at the State House.
The companies also donated funeral policies for 15 students that are currently on the scholarship program which will cover them until they complete their studies.
Speaking at the hand over ceremony, President Mnangagwa expressed gratitude for the donation.
“Thank you very much for this wonderful donation to E.D – UNZA Scholarship Program. It will enable the students to travel with more safety. Those in Zimbabwe will be taken to Zambia and when our Zimbabwean students want to return, the bus will pick them from Lusaka to Zimbabwe.I am very grateful for this gesture from the companies,” said President Mnangagwa.
Matsika said the desire to support President Mnangagwa’s vision to support underprivileged members of the society access education drove his companies to make the donation.
“Education forms the foundation of any strong nation and i believe the President’s initiative deserves this kind of gesture as we support his vision of providing education for all,” Matsika said.
The scholarship liaison officer, Farai Mlotshwa said the donation is very important to the trust as it will provide easy mobility for the students.
“We would to thank the companies for this important gesture as it will enable us to have reliable transportation for our students who are both in Zimbabwe and Zambia. They are almost finishing their semester so we will use the bus to transport the students to their homes,” she said.
The ED – UNZA Scholarship Trust was formed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa on November 27 2019 to expand education of Zimbabwean students to study at his former university – the University of Zambia.
The scholarship aims to provide an opportunity for the needy and academically gifted learners to access tertiary education.
Fifteen Students are currently under the program with 10 from Zimbabwe and five from Zambia.
