Zvishavane Serial Robber Convicted for Tormenting Miners as ZRP Officer
A 23-year-old serial robber from Zvishavane has been arrested and convicted for conducting a series of daring robberies impersonating a ZRP officer.
Nyerebani’s Despicable Scheme
According to reports, on July 10th, 2024, Gabriel Nyerebani and his still-at-large accomplice approached a small-scale miner in Zvishavane. They threatened him and robbed him of cash, pretending to be police officers.
Robbery and Negotiation
Nyerebani’s criminal exploits didn’t end there. He went on to the next local mine and fired shots in the air, which made the miners run away, leaving a metal detector. They eventually stopped at a distance, and upon noticing Nyerebani and his accomplice were about to get away with it, the miners went back and negotiated with them. They agreed on a US$50 deal, and the miners bought the detector back.
