A Brief Background of the Story

The two men, Chivayo and Chimombe, were once business associates. They bitterly fell out over the controversial ZEC tender scandal. The deal, signed in February 2023, was worth more than US$100 million.

Chivayo, Chimombe, and Moses Mpofu were agents in the deal between ZEC and the South African printing company Ren-Form. The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission is currently investigating the trio on charges of fraud and money laundering.
