SRI LANKA fought back in the first session of the second day of the first Test match against Zimbabwe to peg back the hosts’ progress after removing their three batsmen to leave the African side at 260/5 at lunch.
Zimbabwe had resumed on a commendable 189-2 from the first day.
They went on to lose Craig Ervine for 85, Brendan Taylor (21) and Sean Williams (18) – all before lunch.
At the time of publishing, all-rounder Sikandar Raza (6 not out) and wicketkeeper Regis Chakabva (7 not out) were at the crease, largely regarded as the last pair of recognised batsmen.
It will require a big effort from both to pull Zimbabwe to a challenging total.
