Snooker Showdown Turns Savage: Nyanga Drunkard Arrested for Assaulting Drinking Buddy
A drunken man from Nyanga has been arrested for violently assaulting his drinking buddy over a snooker stick. The incident occurred on August 12, 2024, at Chatindo Bottle Store.
Altercation Over Pool Stick

According to reports, Langton Maramba, 29, and the 30-year-old complainant were enjoying beers while playing snooker. Each player had his own stick, but tensions flared when Langton wanted to use the complainant’s stick. The complainant refused to lend it to him, which angered Langton and sparked an altercation.
Drunken Rage Escalates to Brutal Assault

In a fit of rage, Langton struck his drinking buddy in the face with his own stick. He then followed up with two powerful elbow strikes. The complainant fell unconscious, sustaining deep cuts and losing two teeth during the violent assault.

Victim Quickly Reports Assault, Leading to Arrest
After regaining consciousness, the complainant wasted no time. He immediately went to the police station to file a report. Law enforcement officials launched an investigation, which led to Langton’s arrest. He later appeared before the Nyanga Magistrates’ Court facing assault charges.

Court Delivers Nine-Month Sentence

The court found him guilty and sentenced him to nine months in prison. “The accused person pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to nine months imprisonment, of which three months were suspended. He will serve six months effectively,” read the NPAZ press statement.

Drug Offender Faces Severe Penalties
In another shocking case, a man from Magunje received a seven-year sentence for possessing 188kg of mbanje at his homestead. According to reports, police received a tip-off on August 14, 2024. Acting swiftly, officers arrived at the accused’s home and discovered the large stash of drugs.
