‘I’m into music for money’- Minister Mahendere

Charismatic gospel musician and cleric Minister Michael Mahendere has opened up that he is into the music industry for financial benefits and does not hide behind a finger like other musicians.

He made the confession during his sterling performance at the Harare International Conference Centre last Saturday during the Worship Summit hosted by Tabernacles of Grace founder Apostle Batsirai Java.

‘‘I don’t hide like other musicians, l need money so as to support my family.

“ My gift should benefit me and my family,” he said.

Mahendere who is a pastor at Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa’s United Family Internationally Church joined the music industry around the year 2000 with his siblings and they produced instant hits.

They were famed for their signature outfits of long jackets but after his new found fortune and fame Minister Mahendere is known for flashy suits.

Mahendere boasts of several accolades and a fortnight ago he scooped the  “Outstanding Male Minister of Excellence” in Kenya at the Maranatha Gospel Music Awards.

He is also a businessman in his own right.

Meanwhile other artistes who performed on the day include Takesure Zamar and Janet Manyowa.
