After just three years as a makeup artist Zanele Mazarura has decided to join the big league in the regional cosmetology industry.
Zanele who runs ZahMaz Makeup and beauty, a mobile beauty spar says she is ready to upgrade in her trade by launching her own brand of make-up and lip kit, next year.
A massive buy in in the cosmetology industry by women spend big to keep up with appearances has made the trade a multi-billion dollar scheme.
Foundation cream, face powder, lipstick and 3D fibre mascara, eyelashes, eye shadows and contouring kits are some of the make-up ranges that women are exploring in their beauty quest.
Jacquie Mgido Cosmetics by Jacqueline Mgido, Christian by Hadassah, Reelle Cosmetics, Ruby Lynn Artistry are some of the local make up players and Zanele Mazarura wants to join in and change the trade.
Zanele (27) started the beauty trade two years ago, after completing her diploma in makeup artistry and has trained both in Zimbabwe and South Africa, and she is doing professional, bridal and cultural make up both in South Africa and Zimbabwe.
“The preparations for the product are at an advanced stage and they are putting in a few final touches, I am still dealing with my distributer and I’m hoping that by next year everything would have fallen in place.
The new product will be launched next year, I can’t give exact dates for now. All I can say is it will be a surprise, keep following my social media platforms for updates and other services,” she said.
Makeup to me has different meanings, it is a work of art on so many levels, because apart from the glamorous makeup we have for events and weddings, we also have cultural makeup, high end fashion makeup, makeup for TV and film it’s a way of expression and communicating with the world through different styles and colour. There are absolutely no limits to it,” she said.
Zanele has worked with Monalisa Chisango (nee Mupambawashe) a Zim Achievers winner who has who produces shows like So you think you can dance and My perfect wedding Zimbabwe, Rebecca Kano host of South African talk show Rebecca Talks.
“I do different make up; there is one for weddings, cultural makeup and also for TV and film. I don’t have any limits in beautifying people and to me make up is a work of art, it’s a work of expression and communicating with the world in style and colour,” added Zanele.
