XTRA LARGE ‘Maroja’ duo of Norman Manuwere and Jimmy Mangezi hailed for jocular lyrics on Monday left their fans dumbfounded after announcing they were taking a break from music, having been on the job for almost two decades.
The announcement was made by Manuwere on his Facebook page.
“We have decided to take a break from Xtra Large to try and rediscover ourselves and to rebrand as a group.
“During the break, Jimmie and I will be working on solo projects,” Manuwere wrote on his Facebook page.
In an interview with Zim Morning Post, Manuwere said they were taking a break to promote individual growth and will be working on solo projects.
“We are taking a break from the group and trying to promote individual growth by doing solo projects. In the near future, we will get back together and hope to come back a stronger team,” he added
The other member would not be drawn into commending on the purported break.
Manuwere said his partner was aware of their plans before he took to his Facebook page to announce the break.
“He knew about it,” he said in an interview.
However, some fans do not believe the announcement and see it as a publicity stunt before releasing a new album.
“Brand new song loading,” one fan commented.
