A MVUMA gold buyer was murdered on Wednesday while being robbed by three unknown men who were carrying machetes and are still at large.
The three unknown assailants allegedly stole US$700 from the now deceased, Marko Dube, before striking him with machetes.
On January 1 this year, around 6:45am, the informant Louis Seremwa said he heard a voice screaming for help in the bush near his homestead.
Seremwa reportedly went outside his house and saw the now deceased running towards his house.
The three accused are said to have grabbed the deceased before he got to Seremwa’s house, and struck him several times all over his body with machetes.
Seremwa said he saw the assailants searching Dube before leaving him for dead.
According to a police memo, Seremwa then went to the scene after the accused had left.
“Dube told Seremwa to call his uncle who was in Kadoma and tell him that he was robbed off his US$700 and was injured,” read part of a police memo.
Seremwa then filed a report with ZRP Mvuma Police Station.
“When the police examined Dube’s corpse, they observed four deep cuts on the head, one deep cut on the right cheek, one deep cut on the left leg, one deep cut on the left elbow and one deep cut on the left hand palm,” read the police memo.
The deceased was a gold buyer, had a hammer mill at MEK Syndicate mine (registered mine) and was operating a hammer mill, milling ore.
