GOVERNMENT has dismissed as untrue information circulating on social media claiming there was favouritism in the just ended recruitment of student nurses, particularly with regards to those from Matabeleland region for the e-nursing process .
In a statement issued Thursday, Health and Child Care minister Obadiah Moyo said the recruitment process was open to everyone regardless of where one comes from.
“It is important to note that the e-recruitment process was not done on the basis of regionalism. It was open to all Zimbabweans,“ said the minister.
Moyo said demonstrations that were conducted at the nursing school were the work of political parties who were not knowledgeable with how the e-nursing system worked.
The minister further advised those who demonstrated to respect government policy and allow student training to continue without their interference.
“Therefore, I take this opportunity to advice those that were demonstrating in our schools of training in Bulawayo to take heed of government policy and allow for training of student nurses to continue without any hindrance, “ Moyo said.
Government introduced the e-nursing recruitment process to do away with some of the corrupt activities within the recruitment system where individuals would pay to secure training places.
