Four Masvingo Robbers Arrested, US$15K Worth of Stolen Loot Recovered

Four robbers, responsible for a string of robberies and home invasions in Masvingo, have been arrested, leading to the recovery of stolen property totaling over US$15K.

Robbery Spree and Housebreaking Incidents

The four robbers, Jacob Danda (36), Michael Moyo (27), Tinashe Marufu (23), and Prince Ncube (37), have been linked to 19 robbery cases. They are also alleged to be involved in two incidents of housebreaking and unlawful entry in Victoria Ranch, Rhodene, Clovery, and Zimre Park.

Methods and Stolen Items

The suspects employed machetes and knives during their criminal activities, specifically targeting cash, laptops, clothing, and shoes during the robberies.

Successful Police Operation and Recovery

Following an astute observation by a vigilant motorist who offered Moyo and Danda a ride to Bulawayo and became suspicious, the police were alerted. The suspects were subsequently intercepted at a toll gate along the Mashava-Mhandamabwe route on Sunday.

Collaborative Efforts

Masvingo provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa Danda, confirmed the incident. He revealed that Moyo and Danda had planned to meet their accomplices in Bulawayo after a recent house robbery in Zimre Park, during which they allegedly wielded a machete. Meanwhile, Marufu and Ncube headed to Zaka.

Apprehension and Recovery of Stolen Goods

Moyo and Danda were arrested in Bulawayo. Their subsequent cooperation led to the arrest of Marufu and Ncube in Zaka. The four suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to appear in court soon. Notably, the police have managed to recover stolen property worth over US$19,000.
