Dangerous Fugitives: Four Armed Robbers Escape from Budiriro Hideout

Police are searching for four armed robbers who escaped from their hideout in Budiriro on Friday after two of their members were shot in a shootout. The gang is believed to have been involved in 17 robberies between January and July.

Arrests made

Four other gang members have been arrested, including Tinotenda Zhuwawo Dzvairo, Tinashe Ray Chirombo, Trymore Derere Guta, and Herbert Clayton Nyamangodo. The police recovered various items during the arrests, including a bolt cutter, cellphones, and baby blankets.

Manhunt for remaining members

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said that the police are now looking for Brighton Mangondo alias Mombe, Jonna, Satan, and Ishewekunze, the remaining members of the gang. The police have appealed for information that could lead to their arrest, reported Herald.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of the suspect’s accomplices identified as, Brighton Mangondo alias Mombe, Jonna, Satan and Ishewekunze. Shootout and deaths

On Thursday last week, police received information that Mugove Chimuti (36) and Ishmael Mutungira (30) were staying at a hideout in Budiriro 5B. After a shootout, the two suspects were injured and taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital, where they later died.

Arrests and recoveries

The arrests of the four gang members led to the recovery of three 303 rifles, a Taurus revolver, and various rounds of ammunition. The gang is suspected of several robberies, including stealing cellphones from pedestrians at Msasa Industrial area and stealing household appliances from Unadale Farm in Beatrice.

Call for information

The police have appealed to the public for information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining gang members. Anyone with information is urged to contact the National Complaints Desk or report to the nearest police station.
