THE anti-sanctions march Friday descended into chaos with the available freebies in the form of t-shirts meant for distribution to participants falling short by a wide margin.
Many Zimbabweans joined the anti-sanctions demonstrations in hopes they would change the country’s economic trajectory, but it seems the funds released by government towards the march fell far short of the actual requirement.
A video that went viral on social media showed participants brawling over the t-shirts given them for the march.
Temba Mliswa, Member of Parliament for Norton, alleged that the anti-sanctions march had become another platform for the “Zanu PF elite” to strip government of its resources.
“This sanction march is turning out to be a Zanu PF march; there is confusion. People from Zanu PF have been given fuel coupons and not the sitting MPs to organise the logistics. They are already fighting for those coupons. People like (Dexter) Nduna were given 9 000 litres,” Mliswa tweeted.
Pictures of people getting into buses provided by government to ferry people to anti-sanctions rendezvouses through windows have flooded the social media.
