Two years after setting up shop, a US-based entrepreneur who co-founded an outsourcing company in Zimbabwe has said the country is viable for this type of business.
JW Oliver Jr., who founded Global BP Solutions with Ken Sharpe in 2017, said businesses in the US and Europe are accustomed to traditional outsourcing hubs like the Philippines and India, “but there is a new kid on the block.” “Zimbabwe has talented and educated young people who speak fluent English,” he said.
“This is a great combination for the outsourcing sector, especially when work is being done for clients in English-speaking countries.” Global BP Solutions, which has since rebranded, is now called ZimWorX.
Currently, it has around one hundred team members who work for clients in the US. Oliver, however, said the company will soon have clients in the UK, Australia, and Canada, among other countries.
“We are growing at a fast pace,” he said. “Mostly because we were right about setting up in Zimbabwe. Had we been wrong, we would have gone bust by now.” Oliver said he has always been passionate about philanthropic capitalism.
He chose to do business in Zimbabwe after meeting prominent Zimbabwean Businessman, Ken Sharpe, at a Christian retreat. “We discussed investing in Zimbabwe, one of the biggest draw factors was knowing that our company would create jobs for people who need them the most.”
Oliver’s entrepreneurship career spans three decades. His other entrepreneurial ventures span across 20 companies with forays in the dental industry, property and public speaking.
