Zanu PF in Chaos as Interim Secretary General Recalls 70 Law-Makers From Parliament

Tafadzwa Manyika, who claims to be the Zanu PF interim Secretary General, recalls 70 law-makers, after writing a letter to Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda, citing that they have ceased to be Zanu PF members.

A Provocative Letter to the Speaker

Speaker of Parliament

Zanu PF interim Secretary General’s decision to address the Speaker directly appears to be a deliberate act to provoke his response. This comes shortly after Mudenda recalled 15 MPs from the opposition party, CCC. Speaker recalled CCC MPs based on a similar letter received from Sengezo Tshabangu. Tshabangu, claimed to be the interim Secretary General of the Chamisa party in the letter. The CCC publicly denounced Tshabangu as a member, asserting that they currently do not hold the position of a Secretary General.

Testing the Speaker’s Reaction

Manyika’s move is widely seen as a counter move to gauge the Speaker’s response to such letters. The constitution does not explicitly state who can write a letter to the Speaker to recall MPs. However, it specifies that any member of a political party has the authority to address the Speaker, who is then obliged to take appropriate action.

Uncertainty Surrounding Speaker’s Response

In response to the controversy, there is speculation about how the Speaker will handle Manyika’s letter. Critics argue that Mudenda may ignore it, especially given his swift action in recalling CCC MPs. Others highlight that Zanu PF has previously deposited its constitution and office bearers with the parliament, which could influence the Speaker’s decision.

Mixed Reactions from Netizens

Netizens took to social media platforms to express their opinions on the unfolding situation. Some questioned Manyika’s claim of being the interim Secretary General, considering that Zanu PF already has a recognized Secretary General elected through its congress. Others eagerly anticipated the political games that lay ahead, while some urged the Speaker to respect Manyika’s resolution and stressed the need for legal remedies if necessary.

@Realbeefactor:

but ZANU PF has a well known SG that was produced by its congress so why would one say he is an interim SG?

@edmhons:

Let the games begin

@M_Jay94:

We call on Speaker of @ParliamentZim to respect the resolution by the Interim SG of ZANU-PF, Cde Tafadzwa Manyika. Any aggrieved party must seek remedy at the courts!

@chatsman777:

The speaker will obviously ignore – he pulls the trigger fast, fast if it has to do with crippling Chamisa

@MwixahBee:

hahahhaaha 😂😂zim politics never gets boring

@albertmachinda:

Well, as the Speaker says he’s not mandated to do enquiries but to just act, let’s see him do his thing now

@MutonhodzaPhil:

This one is easy. Zanupf deposited their constitution and office bearers to the parliament

@TeteMaiZu:

When they turn up to parliament, they must be removed.
