Zimbabwe Liberation War Collaborators Trust, an organization that represents the children of war collaborators, and an affiliate of the ZANU PF Youth League Director Gabriel Togarepi has warned legislators who are plotting the ouster of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Speaking to this publication Togarepi said the legislators are actually plotting their own downfall as Mnangagwa has the support of the youths, war veterans, members of parliament and the whole Zanu PF.
“We want to send a stern warning to those who are participating in unholy alliances, there is no way you are going to impeach our President,” said Togarepi.
Zim Morning Post exclusively revealed that there are at least five legislators from Mashonaland Central who are plotting to join the opposition MDC in the plans to impeach Mnangagwa.
The impeachment plan seem to be gathering momentum as some MDC legislators are buying into the idea.
An MDC legislator who refused to be named said that impeachment is the only way they can remove Mnangagwa from power and form a transitional government.
“Our country is on an edge, we need a transitional government to steer this country from this sea of poverty and we have been approached on the impeachment plan,” said an MDC legislator.
However, the opposition legislators are wary of this idea since they fear to be used like what happened in November 2017.
“We want to help those who are mooting the idea of impeachment but we are not sure if what happened in 2017 will not happen again,” added our source.
In November 2017 all legislators where in support of impeaching former president Robert Mugabe expecting a transitional Government, something which never happened.
Insiders say the party recently dispatched its National Political Commissar, Victor Matemadanda to Mashonaland Central Province to investigate and douse any fires from a few MP’s who are said to have been working with the opposition.
Investigations show that some MPs who are remnants of the former ousted vice president Joice Mujuru are alleged to be the key people pushing for impeachment within Zanu PF.
“They are working with the former minister of Transport Nicholas Goche who was dropped by the former President Robert Mugabe for being a Mujuru loyalist,” the source said.
