Police spokesperson to be appointed after head count

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) will make new appointments including that of a substantive national spokesperson after  the completion of a  head count,  the Zim Morning Post can exclusively reveal.

The post fell vacant after the elevation of Senior assistant commisioner Charity Charamba to principal at the police college.

This publication understands that the ZRP started the head count early this month and is expected to be complete as soon as possible.

A well  placed source told this publication that there was a lot anxiety from hopefuls who wish to land top posts but that will only be after the head count.

The head count was necessitated by cases of ghost police officers who were draining the government salary expenditure and the fiscus as a whole under the administration of former Commissioner General Augustine Chihuri  .

“The issue of a substantive spokesperson will be sorted after the head count that is when the police will know who is who within the force and that is how promotions are expected to take place,” said our source.
