The Young Mighty Warriors advanced to the semi-final stage of the COSAFA U20 Women’s Championship after they thumped Namibia by 4 goals to nil on Monday morning.
Talent Bizeki put Zimbabwe ahead from a close range in the 16th minute before Dinah Banda capitalized on a mix up between the Namibia goalkeeper and a defender to make it 2 nil.
The girls scored four first-half goals to set up a tie with either Tanzania or Zambia who will play against each other on 6 August in a group B decider.
Dinah Banda netted a brace while Praynence Zvawanda and Talent Bizeki scored once each.
Reacting to the victory, Bizeki’s local coach at Gweshe High School, Njabulo Maphosa said he has no doubt his star player will make it to international clubs.
“This is great news for us at home. Bizeki is a star in the making and she will make it into international teams,” Maphosa said.
Semi-finals are scheduled for 8 August and they will play in the early kick off at 10 am and while the other will take place at 2 pm.
Both Tanzania and Zambia have already qualified for the semifinals having won their matches against ESwatini and Botswana.
South Africa has qualified with 100% record though they labored against Mozambique in their final group game.
The scorers chart shows that Dinah Banda scored 3 goals, Talent Bizeki 2, Praynence Zvawanda, Cynthia Mushonga and Rennie Mudimu 1.
Dinah Banda and Praynence Zvawanda were named players of the match in games against Mozambique and Namibia respectively.
