A HARARE court has postponed the case of former University of Zimbabwe (UZ) vice-chancellor Levi Nyagura to September 27 on the basis that there is still a matter review being dealt with at the High Court.
The prosecutor Brian Vito submitted that the state wishes to postpone the matter to September 27 because of the application that is being dealt with at the High Court.
”There is still an application for the matter review being dealt with at the High Court and we anticipate that it will be finalized by the day,” said Vito
Nyagura appeared before a Harare regional magistrate Hosea Mujaya facing charges of criminal abuse of office.
Allegations are that on sometime in 2011, Nyagura single-handedly accepted and approved Ntombizodwa Grace Marufu’s application to study a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Sociology without the knowledge and recommendations of the departmental board and faculty of higher degrees committee in violation of the UZ quality assurance, guidelines and benchmark.
