PENHALONGA – The MDC on Sunday claimed that the country is being run by the military.
These claims were made by party vice president Welshman Ncube while addressing a huge gathering at a belated victory party for Mutasa South constituency MP Regai Tsunga held at Tsvingwe Primary School.
Ncube said Nelson Chamisa would take matters of politics back to the people.
He added that the military was in charge of government after it removed the late former President Robert Mugabe from power under the guise of ‘Operation Restore Legacy’.
Said Ncube: “Zimbabwe is being governed by the military; let’s not forget that.
“The MDC has defeated Zanu PF before. We have beaten Mugabe and (Emmerson) Mnangagwa in previous elections, but now the military is governing the country,” Ncube said.
“Let’s now focus on removing the military. And that can only be done through the rigorous restructuring of our branches.
“ We are going to have representatives of the party at all branches countrywide.
“Our youths led by our President Chamisa will help to bring change in Zimbabwe,” he added.
Mutasa South legislator Tsunga was credited for snatching the seat from Zanu PF following a landslide victory.
Tsunga defeated Misheck Mugadza by over 2 000 votes in the 2018 election.
“I want to thank party supporters for the resounding victory.
“ As a constituency, we are doing very well. Let’s now focus on the next election and keep the momentum,” he said.
Ncube urged party members to participate in the on-going branch restructuring programme.
