The national Youth Secretary General for the MDC Alliance, Gift Ostallos Siziba has appeared before a Harare Magistrate facing charges of inciting public violence.
Siziba who was represented by Moses Nkomo and Agency Gumbo appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Elijah Makomo.
He was released on $1 000 bail coupled with stringent reporting conditions and restrictions from addressing any political rallies until the matter has been finalized.
As part of his bail condition Siziba was also ordered to surrender his passport, which is believed to be in Bulawayo and as a result, his stay in remand might be prolonged until the passport is surrendered.
The matter was remanded to July 24.
Allegations against Siziba arose on July 7 at Glenorah Community Hall, when he unlawfully incited members of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) to commit acts of public violence through a public speech at a party constituency rally.
Further, the state heard that by saying that Siziba meant that the youths should burn tyres and place stones and boulders on the roads during the anticipated demonstrations thereby disturbing peace.
This comes after the arrest of MDC’s Vice Chairman Job Sikhala on charges of undermining a constitutionally elected government.
