Mberengwa Man Convicted for Robbing Truck Driver of US$31,000
A Mberengwa man has been arrested and convicted for robbing a truck driver of US$31,000 along the Bulawayo Road.
Violent Robbery Scheme Unfolds
According to reports, Doubt Munsaka, along with his accomplice, boarded a truck at Costas Turnoff along the Mberengwa-Yorks Road. They told the driver they wanted to be dropped off at the Mberengwa Turnoff.

However, as they reached the Mberengwa Turnoff, they changed their destination and stated that they now wanted to be dropped off at Mbalabala. They proceeded, and before reaching the destination along the Zvishavane and Mbalabala Road, the Munsaka ordered the driver to stop the truck in the middle of a bush.

Dramatic Confrontation and Daring Heist
The driver did not comply, so Munsaka produced a pistol and an Okapi knife, forcing the driver to stop the vehicle. The driver then stopped and ran away toward the bush. Later he went to the police station and filed a report.

The police acted on the report immediately and went to investigate at the scene. They found that Munsaka and his accomplice had stolen US$31,000, which was stashed under the truck’s mattress, before fleeing the scene.
Sentencing of Doubt Munsaka
Munsaka appeared before the Zvishavane Magistrate’s Courts facing robbery charges. He was sentenced to 9 years in prison, of which 1 year was suspended.

“The accused person was convicted and sentenced to 9 years imprisonment, of which 1 year was suspended. A further 3 years were suspended on condition that the accused person pays restitution. He will serve 5 years effectively,” revealed the NPAZ press statement.
