THE LAW Society of Zimbabwe on Thursday said it had deregistered Belvin Bopoto for misrepresentation and abuse of trust funds.
The suspension follows a hearing by the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal (LPTD), which found Bopoto had been found guilty of misrepresentation after he appeared before the courts of law.
In a statement issued Thursday by the LSZ, Edward Marara said after receiving several complaints against Bopoto, the lawyers’ organisation then decided to refer the matter to LPTD for determination.
“Bopoto was found guilty of misrepresentation before a court of law for failure to comply with client’s instructions despite the client having withdrawn his instructions and asked for restitution.
“The case against Bopoto amounts to abuse of trust funds,” he said.
Marara said the decision to delete Bopoto from the lawyers register had been made by the LPDT.
