Former MP Munyaradzi Kereke and former HMMAS CEO Everisto Rukasha have been arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission for allegedly cheating the Harare Municipal Medical Aid Society out of US$400 000. They were due to appear in court today on fraud charges.
The two men are accused of forging a document in March last year that claimed HMMAS owed Kereke US$400 000 for buying his hospital in Ruwa.
HMMAS had already paid the full price of US$800 000 for the hospital in 2014.
Kereke, who was convicted of raping a minor relative at gunpoint in 2016, was released from prison in August 2021 on bail pending his appeal.
He had served 10 years of his sentence and had 20 months left before he was eligible for parole.
