IOM commits its assistance to government’s migration management.

INTERNATIONAL Organisation for Migration (IOM) has reaffirmed its commitment to assist government in strengthening its migration operational capacity as it handed over furniture in support of this agenda.

Speaking at the handover ceremony held in Harare last week at the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, IOM Zimbabwe Chief of Mission Mario Lito Malanca reassured government of the organisations unwavering support towards the agenda.

“IOM will continue to support the government on migration management in Zimbabwe and reaffirms its commitment to strengthen operational capacities of the National Migration Coordination Directorate,” he said.

IOM is supporting migration management through the Promoting Migration Governance in Zimbabwe (PMGZ) project, the scheme supported the IMCM to hold its quarterly coordination meeting. 

This was noted by IMCM chairperson and Permanent secretary for the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Melusi Matshiya.

“This meeting will go a long way in assisting us as Government and cooperating partners to review the progress attained to date on migration management. We are also able to address the various migration challenges in a coherent and coordinated manner” said Matshiya.

In relation the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Republic of Police is also working under the Anti-Trafficking Ministerial Committee (ATMIC) in reporting on the progress in combating trafficking in the country.
