Former Studio 263 actor turned newly appointed ICT minister, Tatenda Matevera, faced criticism from netizens after copying Bill Gates Quotes on Twitter(X), thrusting her into the spotlight of social media.
Matevera’s Misstep
In an attempt to showcase her knowledge about ICT, Matevera copied and pasted a quote from Bill Gates Quotes and Brainy Quotes, posting it on her Twitter(X) handle. The quote read, “The advance of technology is based on making it fit in so that you don’t really even notice it, so it’s of everyday.”
Later she posted another quote from Matt Mullenweg Quotes that says, “Technology is best when it brings people together.”
Lack of ICT Knowledge Criticized
Ever since her appointment, Matevera has faced continuous criticism regarding her lack of knowledge in the ICT department. Many have accused her of being appointed through nepotism, questioning her qualifications for the role.
Fadzai Mahere, Mt Pleasant MP and former CCC spokesperson, joined the voices questioning Matevera’s appointment by demanding the public release of her CV.

Mahere expressed the need to see Matevera’s qualifications, given the concerns surrounding her suitability for the position. “Can you please publicize Matevera’s cv. We want to see something,” asked Mahere.

I will be very blunt. When u have such minds overseeing cyber security protocols and AI in this modern day, its a national security hurricane. The country is vulnerable to international cyber crime, defence…. the whole thing is a MESS!!!
