Domboshawa Bandit Brought to Justice: Armed Serial Robber Sentenced for Violent Honda Fit Robbery
An armed serial robber from Domboshawa has been arrested and convicted for robbing a Honda Fit at gunpoint in Domboshawa.
The Chilling Carjacking Incident
According to reports, the incident occurred on August 17th, around 7 pm, when Tinashe Nyambuya(30), boarded a Honda Fit at the Hatcliff Turnoff. Posing as a fellow passenger heading to Domboshawa, Nyambuya lulled the unsuspecting driver into a false sense of security.
Nyambuya’s Sinister Plan Unfolds

However, upon reaching Mungate, Nyambuya’s true colors emerged. He requested the driver to make a detour to his house, promising an additional US$5 for the favor. But as the vehicle reached a Y-intersection, Nyambuya suddenly pulled out a pistol from his satchel and threatened the driver, demanding the car keys, phone, and all the cash in his possession.

Driver’s Quick Thinking and Police Intervention

Fearing for his life, the driver complied with Nyambuya’s demands, handing over the car keys, US$16, and an Itel P56 mobile phone. Nyambuya then fled the scene in the stolen Honda Fit. The shaken driver immediately reported the incident to the police, setting in motion a thorough investigation that eventually led to Nyambuya’s arrest.

Nyambuya’s Conviction and Harsh Sentence

Appearing before the Harare Magistrate’s Court, Nyambuya faced robbery charges and was found guilty. The court handed down a stiff sentence.
“The accused person was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, 8 months from a previously suspended sentence was brought into effect. He will serve 10 years 8 months effectively.”
