Tourism minister Prisca Mupfumira is underfire from some Zanu PF bigwigs who are accusing her of “being a mole and selling out” information to remnants of G40 elements still in the party, the Zim Morning Post has heard.
Sources in the party said Mupfumira is “leaking information to our enemies who belong to the ousted G40 faction.”
“We are getting information that senior party officials are in possession of a sensitive intelligence report which suggests that Mufumira jas been giving party information to G40 people,” the source said.
“Tinoshaya kuti sei maG40 achiwana zvese zvatinenge tataura mumameetings edu, but tave kuziva kuti ndimai Mupfumira, (We wondered how the G40 elements got to know of our closed door meetings only to realise that it is minister Mupfumira) ” said the source.
Sources also said some G40 elements who are now working with the opposition MDC Alliance still have hope that the ruling Zanu PF government is likely to collapse.
“People like former Finance minister (Ignatius) Chombo, exiled former Higher and tertiary education minister, Jonathan Moyo and former Local government minister, Saviour Kasukuwere (all G40 kingpins in the former president Robert Mugabe’s government) get sensitive party information.
“We had to carry out an investigation and the intelligence report is pointing to Mupfumira,” the source said.
Sources also said besides leaking information Mupfumira is being accused influencing and interfering with other ministries’ operations.
“Some ministers are complaining that Mupfumira is interfering in the affairs of other ministries.”
Efforts to get a comment from Mupfumira were fruitless as her mobile phone was not reachable.
