MANY commuters travelling into the
Harare city centre are reportedly being turned back ahead of Advocate Thabani Mpofu’s case at the Rotten Raw Magistrates’ Courts in Harare today (Tuesday).
Mpofu is MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa’s lawyer.
This Zim Morning Post journalist witnessed scenarios where the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and Zimbabwe National Army were jointly using force to turn commuters back to their respective homes.
There are fears that MDC Alliance youths could riot in solidarity with Mpofu.
The ZRP on Monday preferred charges against the outspoken Mpofu for falsifying information that he submitted to the Constitutional Court in January 2019.
In an acknowledgment form signed by Mpofu and seen by the Zim Morning Post, the ZRP are charging him for claiming the existence of an individual named Simbarashe Zuze while filing an affidavit at the Constitutional Court.
