KWEKWE, Zimbabwe — Young members of New Creation Life Ministries International (NCL) took to the streets of central Kwekwe on Saturday for a cleanup campaign ahead of the Apostolic Summit 2026, scheduled for October 22-25.
The volunteers, known as the Eagles, swept streets and collected litter in the central business district as part of preparations for the four-day religious gathering, which is expected to attract worshippers from across the country.
Organizers said the initiative was intended to create a welcoming environment for visitors while encouraging young church members to take responsibility for community development.
The exercise also sought to demonstrate the ministry’s commitment to community service beyond its religious activities.
Redcliff Town Council public relations official Michael Magoronga, who attended the cleanup, drew laughter from volunteers when he linked the exercise to the spiritual activities planned for the summit.
“The clean-up is a precursor to the clean-up of demons,” Magoronga said.
The campaign was also attended by local NCL pastors Masunda, Mushoriwa, Chinzou and Bauline.
Organizers said involving young people in the cleanup was part of efforts to promote leadership, volunteerism and community responsibility within the church.
The ministry also linked the exercise to its message of spiritual renewal, drawing inspiration from 2 Corinthians 5:17, which speaks of leaving behind the old and embracing the new.
The Apostolic Summit will take place at the Life Centre in Mbizo from Thursday through Sunday, with United Family International Church founder Emmanuel Makandiwa and his wife, Ruth, expected to attend.
The gathering will also feature performances by gospel musicians, including Mathias Mhere, Blessing Jeduthun, Batsirai Shasha, Prince Kayz, Joyfull Praise and The Unveiled.
