MHONDORO — A 23-year-old man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping a 78-year-old woman in Mhondoro, the National Prosecuting Authority said.
Bright Ajusi was convicted after breaking into the elderly woman’s home in the early hours of June 3, 2024. Armed with a knife, Ajusi threatened the woman before raping her five times.
The victim informed a neighbour, who assisted her in reporting the crime to the police. Authorities apprehended Ajusi soon after.
The court handed Ajusi the 20-year sentence following his conviction on multiple rape charges.
