THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) on Wednesday announced it will be recruiting new members into the service as general duty constables in March 2020.
The recruitment, according to a police statement, would be guided by their amended 2019 policy guidelines.
According to the criterion made public yesterday, potential recruits should to be aged between 18 and 22 years.
The statement by ZRP also said applicants who hold a minimum of five ordinary level passes, including Mathematics, English Language and a Science subject, all attained in no more than two sittings, would be considered.
In a Press statement, police Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said applicants should be of a sound and traceable background that includes no criminal record.
The recruitment process, according to a police memo, should commence from February 17 to 26.
In Harare, the exercise will be conducted at PUC Morris Depot on February 17.
The final recruitment is scheduled for PUC Bindura on February 26.
Police have warned the public against paying heed to adverts emanating from individuals or social media platforms.
“The public is warned against heeding adverts on social media platforms as well as individuals purporting to be members of the ZRP,” the statement read.
“People have been duped of their money on the belief they would be recruited into the police service,” the police statement further said.
According to the communique, the only focal person for the recruitment exercise is one Superintended Sithole.
“The ZRP does not engage third parties in recruitment processes or charge a fee,” Nyathi warned.
The ZRP recruitment policy was amended in February 2019 as a measure to rid of accusations that the ZRP had become unprofessional in its conduct, mainly with regards to issues of recruitment.
The changes in recruitment policy include massive restructuring, reconstitution and refocusing of functions within the police service.
