Zimra introduces new importation policy

ZIMBABWE Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has introduced the Business Partner Number (BPN) as a pre-requisite for one to engage in commercial importation.

ZIMRA on Thursday issued a public notice stating that all stakeholders importing commercial goods are expected to apply for a BPN on the ZIMRA E-Services Platform.

The tax collector said with effect from September 9, no individuals importing goods for resale exceeding ZW$8 000  will be cleared unless one produces the Business Partner Number and Tax Clearance Certificate.

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) in the public notice would like to advise that all individuals importing commercial goods into Zimbabwe would be required to apply for a Business Partner Number through the ZIMRA E-Services Platform on the Website http//filing.zimra.co.zw,”Zimra said.

“Please note test with effect from 9 September 2019, no individual importing commercial goods for resale of a value exceeding RTG$8,000,00, will be cleared unless they have Business Partner Number and a Valid Tax Clearance Certificate,” the statement added.

The requirements for the application of a BPN are:
1) Stamped current Bank Statement

2) Identity Card

3) Proof of residents in the form of utility bill, supported with an affidavit if not in your name.
