ZIFA banned from 2020 COSAFA

Zimbabwe has been banned from participating in the 2020 senior men’s Cosafa Cup tournament  following its withdrawal from hosting the 2019 Cosafa games.

The ban comes after the ZIFA board failed to comply with an agreement to host 2019 COSAFA cup as agreed.

COSAFA is led by former ZIFA president Phillip Chiyangwa.

ZIFA had a last minute withdrawal from hosting the cup saying that the government had refused to assist them to host the games.

The soccer mother body  has also been slapped with a fine of USD$200 000 which it has to pay to COSAFA by August 15 2019 due to its failure to respond to COSAFA before June 30.

If ZIFA fails to meet the stipulated deadline, it will be suspended from playing any Cosafa game until they pay up the required amount.

Meanwhile , Zim Morning Post also learnt that ZIFA is owing Air Zimbabwe  ZWL398k for the trip they had on June 30 for the AFCON games in Egypt.
